Evening at Bookwalter

31 Jul 2004  in the early evening  Matt Winckler

Last night Mystie and I spent the evening at Bookwalter Winery because the famed Barb Winckler was purported to be performing there. It turned out that she was, and the music was absolutely excellent. Never having heard her sing at such a function, we were amazed at her remarkable ability. Norah Jones, Diana Krall, move over! We lauded her and insisted that she must produce a CD that we might purchase it.

The wine, on the other hand, I found to be extremely mediocre. I had a ‘99 Cabernet Sauvignon, and it tasted almost like vinegar. Plus, Barb indicated that Bookwalter doesn’t pay their musicians very well at all, so we resolved not to go back (and Barb says that neither will she). We’re told that Preston Winery is better in this regard anyway.
