An ambitious goal

I have a new goal: I am going to get into shape. But that is not all, oh no, that is not all. Descending from this goal, to speak in an object-oriented fashion, is the goal to commute to work via bicycle. This will kill three birds with one stone: I will save a hojillion dollars a month on gasoline, I will get into shape, and I will have a certain degree of bragging rights. Plus, I will get a bicycle to boot.
I estimate, based on my odometer readings, that my commute is approximately 16 miles each way. This, I think, should be possible to cover on bicycle in little more than an hour. As it is, I spend half an hour each way in the car. I would gladly spend an extra hour per day (round trip) en route if it meant automatically being forced to get in shape along the way.
We shall see what comes of this, but my eye has turned at last upon the bicycle market.

I’m almost up to biking to work, too. But I’m not certain. My office is one foot around the corner from my bedroom, and I’d have to get my bike from the garage….
Matt, Don’t forget to buy some of the disposable respirator type masks if you are going to be biking along the same route that you drove. I am not sure what the trade off is for inhaling noxious fumes versus cardio.
Were I planning to bike along the same route I drove, I think a better choice would be to buy some kind of bike-mounted CIWS to handle vehicles traveling at 60mph on a collision course. But as with all good things, there would be hurdles to overcome.
I recommend buying a decent MP3 player, or a good pocket radio. Good luck though!
But that is not all, oh no, that is not all.
That is what the Matt said

Better invest in a quality helmet, too. :)
Build the Ultimate Water Gun
Matt was considering having some kind of Close In Weapon System (CIWS) for his goal of pedalling the 16 miles to work each day.
I just ran into this info about the Ultimate Water Gun.
