Biker dude

Last night I purchased a new bicycle–a Giant FCR-4. And so it was that I found myself at the Hampton Inn parking lot this morning, unloading to get ready for the craft’s maiden voyage. I did not deem myself yet worthy of the full 16-mile ride, so I am driving partway and biking the rest, starting small at roughly 5.5 miles to see how that goes. My legs certainly need to get into shape; they were sore after doing the run this morning. But overall I think this is going to be an extremely pleasant habit once I get conditioned for it.
I am very pleased with the bike, also. I’d never ridden anything but an El Cheapo brand mountain bike. The FCR-4 has narrow, 700×28C road wheels on it, and an aluminum frame that is incredibly light. It has deraillers that are actually pleasant to shift, and a comfy seat too. All in all, I believe it will be an excellent investment, though we shall see how good it really is when the true test comes with the full trip to work.
