Justice in action

in the early morning

This morning I had one of those glorious opportunities to see justice in action. On the way to work I was driving down Hwy 240 at 56 mph when a Jeep Cherokee blew past me probably going 65 or more. He was passing the car ahead of me when he did the classic “suddenly slam on my brakes because there’s a cop right there and maybe he won’t see me!”–but one of the two state troopers standing on the side of the road was already mounting his motorcycle. It was grand. The trooper jumped into the right-hand lane and got up to speed so fast that he pulled right up next to the Cherokee (in the left lane), looked over at the driver through his passenger window, gestured with two beckoning fingers, and made a hilarious little head-nod as if to answer, “Yeah, buddy, you” before even turning on his lights.
In my rear-view mirror I saw the trooper’s friend pulling out into traffic behind a rice-beater with his lights going.
For great justice!
