30 in 60
Well, I’ve tried a new to-do list type over the past two months. On the inspiration of a couple of others’ lists I’d seen, I came up with “30 Things in 60 Days.” It’s a lot of things, but I included things I would have to do anyway, like grocery planning. That helps with the sense of accomplishment.
Overall, it was a good exercise. I did all but 9 of the 30, and two of those were dependant upon having a completed house plan, which we do not yet have. All 9 unfinished tasks were house-building-related. The only kinds of tasks I added to the list were those “concrete and discrete,” tasks that are obviously done when they are done and very specific. No “wash the dishes every night for a week” or “get up before the boys every day.” Only “have carpet cleaned,” “have Eisingers over,” “prep for and hold my last writing class” and the like.
In the time I was working on this list, I of course had other task ideas I considered doing. But, instead I worked on the list and started a brainstorm sheet for my next list. So, I think I will do this again. I think I’ll start the next one the first week in October so the dates are a little more clear-cut. But, my goodness, I guess that’s next week — and today is Thursday!
