Because we *do* work…

You are hereby tagged. :) Life is always a cycle, and I have backslid and am running up the hamster wheel trying to get back on top again (well, not really…actually, if I were running at it, I’d be there…I’m just thinking about running up it, which makes me tired without having actually done anything but load the dishwasher). So anyway, I am always curious how others run their days. Some have more to do than others, but we all have houses to keep clean, meals to fix, children to raise. Therefore, I am starting my own tagging game that is more useful than silly and meant for encouragement and spurring on than entertainment. I’ll ask a question about routines, planning, cleaning, children, or something like that, and then if you want, you can post your answer on your blog or as a comment to my post if you don’t have a blog.

We all have different family styles, management styles, personalities and situations. The point, therefore, will be to encourage us all to keep at our work with a cheerful heart and to give one another ideas we might not have thought about. I know several women read my blog at least periodically that have never commented, so here is a chance for everyone to join a conversation — and maybe a few more “home despot” blogs may be started in the process. :) That’d be fun. :)

So, although I am tempted to begin with a question about the beginning of the day, really that is shaped by the end of the previous day. I, at least, rarely start a day with a clean slate in the form of a clean kitchen. Elly made a comment on being grouchy if she’s doing dishes at nine at night, but my life-long answer (as my mom can attest) has been to do those dishes at nine in the morning.

Geste at Home #1:

What is your evening routine in theory? What is your evening routine in practice?

If you keep a home, consider yourself tagged. :)

That’s a fun idea, Mystie – and you never know, it might even be helpful. Then I could have an example of how this blogging thing is a useful pursuit to tell my skeptical husband! I took you up on your question as you can see on my blog! Happy Blogging!

Yes, I really think the very best evening routine is to get the dishes done, leaving a clean and empty (as possible) sink to start out the day! I haven’t practiced this teaching so much in my 26 plus years of keeping house, but the last few years I’ve been trying harder and it’s been happening with greater frequency. When I enter the kitchen in the morning, my mood is immediately lightened when I see a SHINING sink faucet, lol!

Hmmm… that sounds suspiciously like something Flylady would say! :-) Actually, it was her idea to lay my clothes out the night before – I guess I needed to see it on the web somewhere before it occurred to me – nevermind that my husband faithfully does that every night himself and has ever since we’ve been married!
