Like a Tree
While we’re on this topic, I might as well share the other funny story. :)
The past couple months Hans has taken to repeating our conversations or mimicking us as we read him his books. So, after this persisted, I decided I might as well use it for good. I read Psalm 1 to him, having him repeat it back every couple words. He absolutely loves it and asks to do it. We’ll see who has it memorized first. After the first few times, though, he caught on and when we got to “He shall” “He shall” “be like” “be like” “a tree” “Haha! That’s funny!” Then he made one of his funny faces, perhaps trying to make a “tree face.” I laughed. Now we get to “He shall be like a tree” “Mommy, that’s funny!”
So today I tried explaining that loving God and His commandments make us big and strong like trees, but I think today was the day for misunderstandings. “Hans, are trees big?” “Uh, yes.” “Are trees strong?” “No!” “Well, can you push a tree over?” “Yes!” …. ….
His favorite part, not surprisingly, is saying, “the wind drives away!” with his clenched fist extended, copying Daddy’s gestures to Grandma’s dogs.

Good for you, Mystie! Scripture immersion, here we go!
Yes, Scripture immersion for me, too! When you have a two-year-old asking you to read the Bible, it makes it harder to go to the back burner! :)
