Monday’s List

Several months ago I split my regular homekeeping chores between the days of the week and came up with a routine that works pretty well — when I follow it. This week my goal is to actual check off everything on each day’s list every day. It’s not a huge list — if I actually got down to business and did it purposefully, each day’s work could be done in the morning or at least during naptime. That never seems to be the way it goes, though. :)

So, to help me out, I’m posting my list each day and at the end of the day I will reply to the post on whether or not I did it….or post my excuses. :) No Excuses! :)

‘x’ indicates the job is already finished

Monday

x -morning routine (dressed, breakfast, boys taken care of, etc.)
-circle time (Hans’ Bible memory and catachism review, then reading time)
x -morning walk

Room Recovery (recovery from weekend)
-5 min. tidy in each room: x boys’ bedroom, our bedroom, x master bathroom, main bathroom, kitchen

Laundry Day
x – gather and sort clothes
-whites, towels, cold loads; washed, dried, folded, put away

Evening (not yet routine)
-table cleared and wiped down
-boys to bed
-dishwasher going
-large dishes washed
-counters wiped down

    Almost and good enough. :)

Last week it was the whole white load that remained in the laundry basket. This week the boys’ clothes are all that remain unfolded and not put away — only half of one load. :) All I need to do really is pull out Hans’ shorts and both boys have enough clothes to last them until next Monday, anyway!

I began the dishwasher (topped off Monday afternoon from the weekend) in the afternoon, so I didn’t start it again with only three plates and some silverware. :) I also made hash in my large skillet, and there’s no way I’m washing that before it soaks overnight! :)

I did complete my afternoon stuff I always try to do: pick up the living room (Hans always has to pick up his toys, I only do toys if I forgot to have them do it before going to bed or if Jaeger sabatoged his efforts) and do a quick vacuum of Jaeger’s eating (and tossing) area. I want the house to have a semblance of order when Matt comes home so it’s a peaceful home, and I’ve found that I’m in better mood after a quick tidy and my housework is completed then, too, so we can visit. I added clearing and washing off the counters to afternoon-time (since I was running the dishwasher anyway:), so I didn’t do it again after dinner.

Anyway, not perfect, but I’m still satisfied. :)
