old wives’ predictors

According to pretty much all the old wives’ tales I know, I’m going to have a girl this time. :)

1. I was sick earlier on and have been more sick than I was either time before; I still haven’t vomitted, but I certainly feel more yucky more often this time.

2. Most of my cravings have been for sweets; interestingly, I’ve also had more cravings and stronger food preferences this time around than either of my other times.

3. The heartrate was 160, while my boys were always 140s.

4. At women’s retreat, a lady did the pendulum test, and the pendant swung in circles, indicating a girl.

It’s still too early to know if I’m carrying high or low or if this baby is active. Both my boys were very active; I never bothered with kick counts at all. If I didn’t feel anything in an hour’s space I’d start to pause and pay attention. :)

So, we’ll know in December if all these wives tales are worth a jot, and if my mom really does need to look at baptism gown patterns and smocked dresses and bonnets. :) Really, I’d like to have a boy this time since I already have all the correct seasonal wear for a May boy. It would certainly be more efficient to save the buying of a new wardrobe for a baby born in a different season, as well. :)
