Poker Night

Hans loves poker. Papa gave him a million dollar bill, Mr. Robinson gave him two nickel chips, and Daddy gave him two jokers so he could play with the big boys — until the sixth player came for his seat 15 minutes after bedtime and Hans, despite protests, had to go to bed.

Mystie- That picture is hilarious! He looks so absolutely positive that he is one of the “Big boys”! Do they play Texas holdem’? I love that game- I even will watch it on TV sometimes. Do you play too?

Thanks, Amy! They play “dealer’s choice” with a few games exceptions, but mostly they play poker variants like Texas hold’m. I have played before, before a few certain games were eliminated, and lost quickly and a lot ($11 — which, when the game is played in nickels and dimes, is a lot!). So I look in now and again but mostly I use the time for evening computer projects while eavesdropping on the guys. :) They give me a pretty hard time about losing even still (it’s been about a year, I think!), and I do play at family gatherings, so one of these days when there is a small turn-out and room at the table, I will sit in and surprise them. :)

It even looks like he has his own beer!

Yeah, I almost cropped them out of the picture — you never know these days — but it is clearly Paba’s. :)

I ended up playing a few hands after the main gang cleared out early, but Matt, Dad, and Matt’s co-worker still wanted to play and invited me. I surprised even myself — in with $5 and half an hour later or so I ended with $7.15! Thanks, Dad. :)

That’s right- one day when they least expect it…Wham! Mystie’s got pocket Aces and takes all the chips!
