Proverbs 29:15

Sometimes I feel like my life is simply a daily testimony to the veracity of Proverbs 29:15. And while I have seen the first part of the verse often borne out, I am primarily speaking of the second half.

Even today, even in the naptime crib, safely confined and supposedly sleeping, I found myself brought to shame. At least, I found myself brought to clean a shameful mess. Jaeger had pulled off his diaper and thrown it overboard. Now, it wasn’t a messy diaper. No, he saved the mess for after the diaper had been abandoned.

While cleaning it up, I sniff the air. “Um, Hans, do I smell baby powder?” Why, yes, yes, I do. Hans had brought out the baby powder to the hall for some reason and Jaeger was liberally sprinkling the fisher price guys and the carpet with it.

Hans has learned the sentiment of this verse, as well, although his version goes, “…a child left to himself has a lot more fun.” “Mommy,” he will say, “don’t look at me, ok?” Translation: “I’m going to do something that I’m not sure you will approve; how about you look the other way for a few minutes.”

So, the question is, why am I on the computer now? Because it takes me too long to learn a lesson.
