Sharing a Bedroom

Our boys, 21 months apart, have almost always slept in the same room together.

Advantages: 1. One room to clean. 2. One baby monitor. 3. Third bedroom is freed for an office. 4. They keep eachother occupied and entertained if they are not tired at naptime or if they wake up too early. 5. They are more willing to go down for naps or the night when they see their brother also going down. 6. I think they are better friends for it.

Disadvantages: 1. They rarely wake eachother in the middle of the night, but naptimes are sometimes cut short by one waking and purposefully waking the other. 2. It’s difficult, if not impossible, for one to go down for a nap or bedtime at a different time than the other, as is sometimes necessary because of sickness or crankiness. 3. It’s absolutely impossible for another to get out of bed before another.

If you don’t have the space, don’t panic. Neither of my boys would ever dream of having it any other way. They love having a companion, a compatriot in confinement.
