Small house, new HVAC system, and a heat wave
Today heads us into a blistering heat wave, but you wouldn’t know it here at our house!
Even though our old house had central air, keeping the 1900-sqft, 2-level, southern-facing house at 79-81-degrees worked the 30-year-old system enough, and I didn’t feel like a cool house was worth $300 a month. So hotter days felt hotter inside, even if the thermostat said it was the same temperature as always.
Now we are in a 1200-sqft, 1-level, western-facing house, and the 2-year-old system keeps the house at 77-degree house with no problem. Vents blow air right at the kitchen sink, right over the couch, right over the recliner….it’s a beautiful thing. The only thing that would be better is if there were a vent over the computer. So, from in here, I can’t tell that it’s any hotter today (it’s 106) than it was last week (98). It’s sunny outside, and it’s air-conditioned inside. It’s a beautiful thing. I think the mail might stay in the mailbox today.
Here’s what accuweather.com says: Friday, sunny with the temperature approaching the record of 108 set in 1959. Saturday, sunny to partly cloudy with the temperature breaking the record of 106 set in 2003. Sunday, sunny to partly cloudy with the temperature tying the 110-degree record from 1959. Monday, mostly sunny with the temperature breaking the record of 103 last set in 2004. Tuesday it will only be 102…that’s just normal ol’ late summer around here. :)

Older house, new HVAC system, heat wave, cool QUIET house – happy family! Summer has been totally revolutionized!
