Spring — and Summer — is almost palpable
I have 19 more classes to teach until the school year and my four-year stint as teacher ends. I will then have 3 years or so where the school year’s only significance to my life will be weekly Bible study meetings. Well, there’s still AHG, too; I’ll probably keep with that as long as future pregnancies/babies fit with it. Three years where I shall have to resist the pull of the school supply aisles in August; three years where my only role will be that of wife and mommy. Then what? Kindergarten/first-grade for Hans somewhere, somehow, and something like 25 or more years of being tied to the academic calendar again in some way, shape, or form.
In two weeks (Spring Break) the boys and I will also take a road trip and overnighter to Elly’s house so I can see her blue wall! Well, that’s not the only reason…as roommates we used to stay up til midnight or later swapping stories, experiences, and ideas, so we’ll see how much our four boys will allow us to relive old times.
Of course, all classes after Spring Break are twice as hard, for teacher and students…everyone will wish it was over, but we will have one last book to plow through. I am glad I saved one of my favorites (The Faerie Queene) for last!
