Hans’ Song
Hans loves to sing while he plays. It is fun to listen to because he doesn’t generally stick to singing songs he hears and knows. Listening to his singing is like listening to his brain sort out all the little pieces of data it has picked up, listening to his mind sort his knowledge out and try to make sense of it all.
The other day I had pen and paper handy when he began singing and I wrote down his lyrics.
Oh, will you forgive me?
I sinned against God.
Shout for joy! Shout for joy!
In righteousness.
Glory be to the Father.
Jump for joy! Oh!
Oh, Kara is my friend, yes, Kara is my friend
That’s what Kirsten says.
Oh ba, ba, ba, ba, ba
He fills us up with fear! Rats!
Get him out of here!
Were you forgiving me?
Ho, wah, wah, wah, wee
Oh wine glasses are not for shirts,
They are for drinking.
Oh wah, yah, sha, ba, sha, ba
Shama, shama
And we were leaving because
Bye, bye Nana, bye bye Lanie
Is Lanie my best friend? Oh, Nana is my friend!
Oh mommy will rise again
Yes, she will.
And a backson, yes a backson,
Hi I am the queen
and mischief, and a mischief,
I am in a mischief
Night, night, it was time to go,
I did my job,
Run around!
And why are you saying mischief?
Because it is far away.
Run around!
I have a lot of songs,
Oh, yes, I do.
And one is a black widow spider
And it is 25 years old
And when it eats his lunch
And when it eats his lunch
And when it eats his lunch
Manna with his lunch
Manna with his lunch
At this point the song did not end, but I ran out of paper and the song became primarily nonsense syllables. :)
And I did actually refrain from laughing during this entire song, knowing that he would instantly stop if he knew I was listening. :)

The funny thing is that it sounds an awful lot like some of the Beatles songs!
That is really wonderful – I’m so glad you wrote down one of his songs.. that’s a memory especially worth recording!
I would like to know the tune that goes with that. I think it would be worth singing in the shower many a morning.
Unfortunately, the tune was rather a more Paulson tune than a Winckler tune. So, sing it away without a care as to rhythm or key! :)
