Moving Casualties

Wednesday  in the early morning  Mystie

I believe this move stands out from among the rest as the move that has caused the most casualties. Not actual injury, however; rather, “stuff” casualties.

First, my extra large serving platter was placed on the floor of the office near the beginning of the move and was subsequently broken when a large piece of furniture was unwittingly placed on it. It had been a $5 find (brand new), so I hold out hope of finding yet another such find to replace it. Its replacement is not urgent; I had only used it 3 or 4 times in the year I had owned it.

Second, one wine goblet and two out of the three remaining pilsners were not packed well enough to survive. I was the one who packed them. Rats.

Third, I have a set of three tiered plates that stack to make a tier or that can be used separately as footed platters. The smallest of the set broke in its box. Hans suggested getting a plastic one to replace it.

Fourth, we have completely unpacked the main level and I cannot find either my kitchen scissors or my second pancake flipper.

Fifth, there are hardly any, if any, boxes left undisturbed and we cannot find one of Matt’s pipes or any of his two packages of pipe tobacco.

However, all of my china and best goblets did survive two moves in perfect condition. Phew!
