Plurals and singulars

Jaeger knows his English grammar. He knows that ‘s’ at the end makes a plural. He is convinced of that fact.

Therefore, he is convinced that the only time words end in ‘s’ is when they are plural. He refuses to end words that he intends to be singular with an ‘s.’

For example, I cannot get him to say “nose.” He only has one. He calls it his “no.”

I never thought of this as much of a problem until the other day. He has been referring to horses as “neigh-neigh-neighs.” In the interests of discouraging baby talk and promoting appropriate vocabulary, I told him his rocking horse was called a horse. Say horse. Well, he only had one, so he repeated his question, “Where my hor go?”

Cough. Horse, Jaeger. “Where my hor go?” Horse. “No, hor!”

Ok, go ahead and call it a neigh-neigh-neigh, nevermind.
