All is well. Ilse is head-down, just sitting high and tight. She is also still a girl, so there’s no last-minute boy-name panic. :) She’ll just be a definite January baby; we have no hope for a 2007 tax deduction. Personally, I want her to be a January birthday and as long as we can keep it mid-January and not late January, the farther from Christmas that her birthday is the better it will be for birthday celebrations in the years to come, I think. I have been planning the whole time on the 10th or 12th or something like that, so I’m not at all concerned about her being high at this point. I am relieved that I will not be having a Christmas baby!
The annoying thing is that I am still having off-and-on contractions, but with her head so high up I know they aren’t doing a thing. Can’t I tell them to switch off? Right, right, Braxton Hicks contractions tone the uterus in preparation for labor…I just wish I was one of those women that didn’t feel them. But no, I feel them quite pronouncedly.
In the meantime, I feel a little respite in my baby-stress now. I don’t feel it’s as urgent to have all baby readiness done before Christmas — which is good because it turns out our dryer isn’t heating, so there will be no washed baby clothes or birth sheets and towels until that gets fixed or I haul it all to my mom’s.
Well, the boys are awake. I can hear on the monitor that they are playing “baby.” Apparently their baby has a poopy diaper and Jaeger is being very insistent that he is a daddy and not a mommy. “Oh, poor mommy. I will change the poopy diaper.” Poor mommy, indeed. The topic was probably introduced because it smells like a poopy diaper in there. Time to go. Hm…the baby is eating now…I’d like to walk in on that process. No, nevermind, they say they are feeding her chips and salsa. :) “She’s stinky again. Can you give me a wipe?” Ok, time to go!

So glad to hear that Ilse is being cooperative. Her still being “high” isn’t the worst thing either. I had such an achy pelvis for the last couple of months, no fun!
