Books Read in 2008
I find it difficult to believe, but I read 41 books this year! This is the first year I’ve actually kept track, so I don’t know if I read more or less than other years, but I was expecting 20 books to be a worthwhile target. Of course, for the first half of the year I had a book group, several of the books on the list were audio books, and actually 2 were skim reads and I decided not to finish 2. But I think that’s legitimate, and I read enough in all 4 cases to get a sufficient feel for the book, so I kept them on the list.
So, if you want to get all technical, I read 37 books. Using this adjusted number, here is how I’ve broken down the list:
13 Literature 1 History 15 Non-Fiction 8 Fiction
I’m quite pleased. Between late pregnancy/new baby and Matt’s absence, I did have more reading time than average, so my goal for 2009 will simply be to break 20. I kept my list on an Amazon.com widget and added comments as I went with the month I read it, whose book it was, and a one-very-short-sentence review. I can’t quickly put it into a more friendly format, so I’ll just paste it into this post for you to browse if you so desire. If you hover your cursor over the book, you’ll be able to see the full comment.
I’ll try keeping my list in a different format in 2009, but I haven’t decided how, yet. I do like seeing a list of book covers.
