Bulk Freezer Cooking
This last weekend I organized a service project for Women of Grace — our church’s (Grace URC) women’s ministry. We prepared 24 main dishes, 4 side dishes, and 4 desserts for the freezer of a missionary family ministering about an hour away from us on an Indian reservation. This is the fourth year we’ve done it and the second year that I have been the coordinator. And this year I actually have the plans in a form accessible to more than just myself and I didn’t have a large amount of omitted information — like how much garlic to add and little things like that. So, in addition to making the plans available to the congregation, which I have already done, I also make them available to you, my lovely readership:
2008 Freezer Meal Service Project
The only thing in there that is less-than-clear (that I am aware of) is that each main-dish recipe makes three meals of 6 servings each.
Several of the recipes were ones I found while borrowing Fix, Freeze, Feast from the library earlier this year.
Now I really should go back to last year’s plan and put it in an accessible, understandable, correct form as well. But that probably won’t actually happen until next year. I figure if we have two different plans, we can just alternate them each year. And, of course, the real motivation for having the plans in order is to make it more likely that someone else might volunteer to take charge. :)
