Now, seeds, start growing!

My peas are growing smashingly. While the little pokes of green still give me a thrill, I remain dubious that they shall actually reach fruition. If I get even one pound of fresh sugar snap peas for all this garden effort, it would be reward enough.

Our radishes are coming up nicely, but there’s still no sign of the carrots that we planted on both sides of them. I’m giving them a bit more time, hoping that the cold weather only delayed, but did not ultimately frustrate, their growth.

There is also still no sign of the lettuce and mesclun plantings, which are supposed to prefer cooler weather, but the spinach is coming up — to Matt’s chagrin, I am sure.

The boys are looking forward to their “sunshine flowers” blooming, although about half the plants have half-eaten leaves, so I’m not sure what will happen there.

And now, let’s get a little context on all those pictures of garden success.

Looks like nobody has done anything.
Sigh.

What are you talking about, thou heretic? Look at that fabulous retaining wall! And the grass!
Unbelievable. “Nobody has done anything.” Wretched ingrate! :-)
In the garden I meant. Sheesh. The fabulous retaining wall and the yard of grass is what is making my garden look pathetic and not worthy of its surroundings. :)
By the way, gmail offered this quote for the email notification of your comment: “Who loves not women, wine and song remains a fool his whole life long.” Martin Luther. Must have been triggered by “thou heretic.” :)
