It snowed today! It snowed for at least 30 minutes! This should not be. I am not pleased.
The Mac’s DVD drive stopped working. We took it in for warranty repair. The repair is not covered under warranty. There was a dime in the DVD drive.
I put on a sweater on my way down the stairs since it is freezing cold. A faint aroma of curdled breastmilk wafted to my nose.
Today my mind has waxed eloquent to itself about keeping my household routine, about ramping up my household management plan, about revamping my system. My laundry is yet undone.
Today my mind has waxed eloquent to itself about masculinity, femininity, family-centeredness, Idealism, authority, patriarchy, and discipline. This instead of my normal note-to-self-eloquence on our declining culture and working out scenarios of my postmil vision of a redeemed culture. My boys played upstairs unsupervised. I only read one book to them and then told them that was enough for now.
Today my mind has waxed eloquent to itself about education. Self-education, home-education, school-education, all kinds of education. My thoughts for myself focused on what I would do when I have more school-aged kids than pre-school kids. My close-range thoughts focused on Kindergarten rather than Monday.
The day is only half gone and quiet time is before me. Time to actually do a little self-education and prepare for Monday’s book group when we will be beginning Mansfield Park. Time to actually get some laundry done so Hans has clean underwear and pajamas and I have clothes that don’t smell (for a little while anyway). Time, when they get up, to get a stack of books and read for an hour together on the couch with all three of my little ones.

mmmm…the smells of curdled breast milk. The other day I put on a sweater I had hung back up because I had only worn it for about 20 minutes. I kept smelling curdled breast milk on my hands, and kept washing them. I must have done that at least 5 times before I realized that Gracie had spit up a little on the sleeve and it had been on there since the last time I wore it. It’s lovely when stuff like that happens.
I was not pleased about the snow as well.
