Hungry Farmer Boy
I forgot how much of Farmer Boy is about mealtimes. Almanzo sure does appreciate his mother’s cooking. :)
And, listening to the descriptions and quantities, it’s absolutely no wonder Almanzo’s mother is “plump.” :) Pioneer Woman has nothing on Mrs. Wilder’s lavish use of butter and cream!
I was astounded the first time I read it because of that! I always wondered if part of the reason Laura liked to write about it was because her own experience had been so different and she found it all amazing.
I was also impressed at Mrs. Wilder’s unceasing industry.
