The Miserables
I had to return Part 2 when I was only halfway through because someone requested it, but I immediately placed a request on it again myself and now I have it back 3 weeks later. The battle at the barricade has just begun after much ado on the part of the narrator.
And, now, as one character after another dies, I see why the title is appropriate. It is not solely because every character is unfortunate and sinned against in one way or another, but it is also because as each character nears his or her end, he or she not only dies — he or she wants to die, each for his or her own unique reasons.
I am enjoying listening to Les Mis, but it is going on my “to read” — in actual book form — list, also, however much the French psyche boggles me.
