Cakes

I’m not sure how I got roped into “3D cakes.” It was never my intention. I thought a two-layer cake with the birthday child’s choice of frosting color and sprinkles would do. However, yesterday I made my third train cake.

Now Jaeger is talking about a digger cake scooping dirt, and Hans was pretty enamored of the pictures of this helicopter cake, so I might have to take extreme measures soon. I’m working on my sales pitch for a cake as a construction zone for toy diggers that can scoop chocolate frosting and a cake landing pad for a toy helicopter.

Here is Hans’ 7th birthday train cake; I frosted, he decorated:

And, here is a picture of Jaeger’s treasure chest cake. Gold coins cover a multitude of ineptness.

Very nice! Much fancier than anything I could come up with! Of course, I’ve been lucky the last couple of years, because Aunt Abigail has taken over the making of themed birthday cakes for her nephews…

  2. Train cake: What a cute idea! I’m totally going to do this for one of O’s birthdays…maybe next year. This year the little monkey gets a mokey cake.:)

Of course, you’d have to tell me how you did it…
