Homeschool Review: Hey Andrew, Teach Me Some Greek!
This optional subject was also cut to smithereens. We’ll continue with it, but I don’t think the workbook is worthwhile. If I had to purchase it over again, I would get only the Reader and the CD. The workbook asks the student to fill pages full of Greek letters mostly. Next year, instead, I’m going to have Hans read the Reader (which teaches the names and sounds of the Greek letters) and learn the alphabet song off the CD. Instead of using the workbook, I’m simply printing off a Greek letter strip and ask him to copy a couple letters 3 times very well.
If I was going to do it all over again, I would more seriously consider getting School Song Greek or Greek Code Cracker instead. But I wasn’t wanting a full-blown program and now I am just going to keep going with what I have, especially since I figure any and all familiarity with the Greek alphabet is all optional gravy. And, in reality, that means we will probably hardly ever do any of it, so I’m not going to splurge on a program.
