Every Friday for the next few weeks, I will be participating in Brandy’s link-party discussion of a particular lecture from CIRCE’s 2010 Conference, titled A Contemplation of Liberty: Because Free People Rule Themselves.

CIRCE has the best definition of education I have yet encountered:

CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty by means of the seven liberal arts and the four sciences so that, in Christ, the student is enabled to better know, glorify, and enjoy God.

And, this week, CIRCE is making their key-note address from the conference available for listening online. If you’d like to listen, before or after reading my post on Friday, the lecture can be found here.

I have decided that my posts on the lecture will begin with a brief-as-possible outline of the talk, then pull out 2-3 main quotes or points that struck me along with potential points of application to my own situation. Even if you don’t listen to the talks or home educate, you are welcome to join the discussion in the comment section.
