Hans Turns 8….and makes menu selections for the occasion
Hans’ Birthday Meal Choices:
picnic w/ best friend: turkey sandwiches without cheese, jicama, grapes.
dinner w/ best friend: hamburgers with bacon, watermelon, potato chips, kale chips
birthday cereal choice: Trix & Kix (the boxes were on sale, so I said he could pick two boxes; he wanted a large Malt-o-Meal bag so that there’d be enough for a second day). Even two boxes will likely not survive one breakfast; and I will have eggs and Matt will have pancakes.
birthday lunch with family after church: sandwiches, potato chips, kale chips, jicama, watermelon
cake: “A kind I can make myself.” And he did. He made a three layer cake: one layer chocolate, one layer strawberry, and one layer funfetti. He followed the directions on the boxes and made them, and all I did was lend a second set of hands when pouring them into the pans. I made the chocolate frosting with his assistance, and he frosted his cakes.

ice cream: mint with chocolate chips (which he also mixed himself)
