School of Hard Knox
You know the puns had to start sometime. Here we go.
Last week I must have had 3 people within as many days ask what Knox does during school time. When I was growing up there was always a toddler underfoot, so this is just normal, isn’t it? What’s the big deal? He eats crayons, empties drawers, glues himself to my leg, and then when I can’t handle it anymore, he gets a snack in some form of containment. It’s pretty much what all the kids did at this age, but I was cleaning the kitchen and doing laundry instead of managing school.
So, I thought I’d make a photo journal entry: A Morning in the Life of Knox.
Snack while supervising a math lesson. It appears Mr. Demme is amusing even to the under-one set.
My pace is often considerably slowed by this added appendage.
He performs daredevil stunts after rounding a corner out of eyeshot.
He gets into places he shouldn’t get into.
During Circle Time I do contain him with one toy (Ilse! Don’t bury him in all the toys in the playroom!) so that the other kids can have papers and pencils on the floor.
When we sing or our memory work is set to music, he gets up and grooves.
He likes to grab my leg and hold on for dear life.
Sometimes he needs a little catnap. By the way, a few minutes later Knox popped up and headed straight for Hans’ books. Hans registered a complaint and was told that he should move out of Knox’s reach. It is the older ones who can accommodate the toddler, especially when he’s already spent half the morning contained and restrained.
A morning snack hits the spot while Mommy does phonics with Jaeger.
I don’t remember if this was an approved snack or a found snack.
Here is the context of that shot.
But he sneaks a snack of crayon every chance he gets.
And, if it’s not crayons, it’s papers or plastics in the kitchen.
Then, he ends up getting what he wanted all along: a ride in Mommy’s arms.

Hey, if you have to have an appendage that slows you down, at least it’s cute and smiles!
Yes, Knox is my happiest baby by far. He’s not laid-back, but he is happy. :) A smile makes up for a multitude of emptying drawers.
Ah, so satisfying to get a great-nephews and great-niece picture fix! They look like quite the happy bunch :)
Awesome! This is pretty much my morning, except the toddler ends up outside eating rocks instead of inside eating crayons. He sneaks out, so I finally had to lock all the doors after Si leaves and now it has to reach 45 degrees before he’s allowed out since he doesn’t like to wear layers like he did earlier this winter…
Oh my, how this looks just like our days. Moses is just a week or so older thank Knox I think. I laughed out loud at these pictures and then preceded to call my children to see them because I thought they were so funny. The children just stared at them with blank looks, apparently they didn’t see the humor in them.
